Most keyboards I have had in recent years have been bland and boring, they served there purpose well, but the time has come for something exciting and original.
Keyboard makers have been doing some brilliant work in recent years, not only are they feature packed, they also look cool (as we demand).
I do like what Logitech is doing (its in my price range as well), even Microsoft are doing some cool things, but the Optimus Maximus is by far and away the best, the coolest and has the most features. Unfortunately, it is the most expensive.
All of these keyboards are available to buy, except number 10, which is still a concept (wait until you see it though).
This list is not THE top 10, bur merely MY top10. If anyone knows of any keyboards they would like to share, just leave a comment with a link.
1. Optimus Maximus (http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/)
Features: To describe all the features in one small article would not give this keyboard justice. It is PHENOMENAL, please visit the homepage (http://www.artlebedev.com) for all the specs and features and downloads…, and you have got to try the interactive demo here: Optimus Maximus Demo.
The price is pretty hefty for a keyboard though, $462.00.

5. Luxeed LED Keyboard (http://luxiium.com/)
Features: Each key can be lit from any of 512 different colours, Whatever color scheme you feel like, you can programme it to your needs. Nice pastel colors to help you relax, sober colors when you are working. It looks fantastic.
6. Combimouse Keyboard (http://www.combimouse.com/)
Features: This is both a combination of a keyboard and a mouse. You probably thought this would/could ever be done. If you visit combimouse.com/ and watch the video presentation, it will give you more of an incline to how it works. I love this idea, and would really love to try this.
7. Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 (http://www.microsoft.com/)
Features: I know this is from Microsoft, but this keyboard is pretty cool. Its rechargeable, it has a backlit keyboard, 2.4 GHz Bluetooth® Technology, wireless up to 30 feet, battery status sndicator and 4 USB Ports.
8. Amex Digital Touch-Screen Wireless Keyboard (http://www.amexdigital.com)
Features: Its wireless (boring), Media Center Button (boring), it has media controls (hasn’t got me excited yet) and its Touch Screen (bloody marvellous, just look how cool it is!).
9. Flexible Illuminated Full Sized Keyboard (http://usb.brando.com.)
Features: I know that these types of keyboards are not very popular, but just take a look at it, and the price is only $27 (honestly). It is a flexible illuminated full sized keyboard, it is also very durable and silent. This has to be worth the price.
10. Optimus Tactus Keyboard (http://www.artlebedev.com)
Features: This is just a concept from the makers of the Optimus Maximus, if this is going to be released it will shoot straight into everyones number 1, it just looks amazing as are its features. It does not have traditional keys (it is touch screen), each key can be customised, not just by color, icon, or letter but by size as well! Video can be played on it, and images can be viewed directly on it as well. I am drooling at the thought of this.
