Its not the number that we keep in mind while jotting down these useful tools instead how each one would be helpful in one way or the other. As our prime focus is on designers and developers, we come up with the collection of the tools, apps and websites that are useful for them and are definitely worth checking out.

Sometimes while working web designers and developers fall short of time. Mind the Time by Paul Morris is an extension that lets designers/developers keep track of how much time they spend on the web and where they spend it. Ticker widget shows how much time is spent at the current site and total time spent on the web in a day. The summary page sums up data for the past 70 days, 10 weeks and 6 months enabling you to get aware of what took too much of your time which otherwise could have been used productively. In short Mind the Time is your time management tool that helps you keep track of your time to make you conscious about proper time utilization.

2. fileee


fileee is an intelligent, personal assistant that lets you automatically organize all your for the automatic paper- and digital documents in one system. It’s like a complete filing cabinet of the future that includes personal assistance that recognizes the structures and information itself. fileee helps you to carry out different document related tasks like safe storage of all your important documents, sharing of documents and overview of the documents that are important for any business and if you are into designing/development business then fileee is a must have tool as it will help you cut down lot of time and effort in managing/organizing all the important documents.

3. ArtistX


ArtistX by by Marco Ghirlanda is an Ubuntu-based distribution that helps users mainly artists designers get free software tools to enhance their productivity by making their tasks easier.  Well, if you are mistaken that ArtistX despite being based on Ubuntu uses Unity then I must tell you that it focuses on the Classic Desktop mode of Gnome 3.  It doesn’t need to be installed, and boots directly into a running system.

Its an API that provides you with a randomly generated user. These users can be used as placeholders in web mockups and promise to save your time as it eliminates the need of creating your own placeholder information. It’s like Lorum Ipsum but for people. You can use AJAX or another method to ask Random User for a randomly generated user.  If you are using JQuery, you can paste the code directly and get started. Its as simple as that!

Keeeb is what I call an ideal tool for designers. It lets you clip, collect and organize anything that inspires you. From web pages to images, videos and text, almost anything can be collected in a speedy, intuitive and clean way. Be it some of your projects, creative ideas or professional work, you can simply keeeb it. Sharing your designs with others is the best way to let others know your creative skills.

8. LICEcap


LICEcap is an app that has the ability to capture an area of your desktop and save it directly to .GIF to let you view in web browsers or .LCF. Its an intuitive and flexible application designed initially for Windows and now OSX. Besides, it is extremely lightweight and is capable of working with high performance.

Wideo is an online video tool that allows you to make animation videos for your product demo, presentations, teaching lessons that too in a hassle-free manner and fun way. Its an online, open-source font generator that is anticipated to be released soon. enabling designers tweak the font’s glyphs within more than twenty parameters. Also, classic or experimental shapes can be designed with ease as one can shift from the prototyping phase where almost anything can be adjusted at once for fine-tuning each glyph within the typeface.
