Well, we are on it and will soon be publishing it. For now, let me begin with today’s Photoshop tutorial.
To begin with I have opted to prepare step-wise tutorial of designing a retro grunge poster using Adobe Photoshop. If you are a newbie and wish to create a stunning retro grunge poster then here’s the smart solution. Simply follow the steps listed below and see the results. Just remember patience is the key, you don’t have to lose your heart incase you don’t get the same results.
So, lets begin with design a beautiful retro grunge poster in Photoshop. Read on, follow the steps and let your creative juices flow. Believe me you will be amazed by the results. To begin with here I wish you all good luck!
Photoshop Tutorial : Design a Retro Grunge Poster
Step 1: Create a new document of size 750 x 1000px with 300ppi resolution.
Step 2: Now create a new layer using Ctrl + Shift + N and grab the Pen Tool and draw a triangle like shown and then right click on the path and go to Fill Path and fill it with a color you want.
Step 3: Use duplicate Layer to form a triangle same as above but with different color.
Step 4: Repeat and duplicate things till you get a design like:
Step 5: Now we will add some texture effect in it, for this use the texture as per your choice, I have chosen the concrete type texture, change its blend mode to multiply and make this layer above all the previous layers formed.
Step 6: Now you will get something like shown, you may change the opacity of the texture as need.
Step 7: To all the triangle color layers apply ‘Stroke’ of 1px size and white color. To do this fast, first apply the effect to only one layer and then copy it to all the remaining layers.
Step 8: Now add some text wit Retro Themed Font or any other of your choice wit white color.
Step 9: Grab your extension tool and do the following extensions to make the text look better. Do it with the same color as of the previous font.
Step 10: From the pre-loaded custom shapes you may choose the one you like and add it to the image with the same color as you have for the text. You may also create shapes of your choice using the particular tools of Adobe Photoshop.
Step 11: Merge all the text related layers after using ‘Merge Layers’, you may Rasterize them if needed.
Step 12: Now we will add border to it, for this hold on the Ctrl key and click to the thumbnail of the layer created by merging in the previous step. Now go like Select -> Modify -> Expand and set the value to 12px.
Step 13: Now in the new layer created which is beneath the white text layer, fill it with some dark color so that it will look like:
Step 14: Right click on the layer in the layer palette and got to Blending Options and choose ‘Pattern Overlay’ with multiply blend mode, 50% opacity and zebra pattern.
Step 15: Now at last for finishing, again create a new layer at the top of all the layers use some other grunge brushes and textures as suited to your image or poster to make it look better with reduced opacity.
Step 16: Now for a shadow effect, create a new layer and fill it with black color with 0% fill and double click on it to go to layer styles and choose ‘Inner Glow’ with Multiply blend mode and 50% opacity.
Our poster is ready now.
